Arsenal can win Premier League -Petr Cech

Arsenal goalkeeper, Petr Cech, believes his club can go “all the way” and lift the Premier League trophy this season.

Arsene Wenger’s side secured a crucial victory over rivals, Manchester City, on Monday night and are now just two points behind pacesetters, Leicester City, as we enter the festive period.

The Gunners have lost just one of their last 11 games in England’s top tier and are in contention to secure their first title in over a decade if their form can be maintained.

Arsenal’s encouraging run of results has been achieved without several key players like Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Santi Cazorla, Danny Welbeck, Tomas Rosicky and Francis Coquelin, who have all endured spells on the sidelines this term.

And Cech is adamant that the side’s achievements during a difficult spell of injuries will stand the Gunners in good stead come May.

“The squad is very strong and once we have everybody available, the manager can use every player the way he likes.

“That will be to our advantage and we’ll be able to go all the way,” he told BBC Sport.

“We’ve been through the season with plenty of problems. Everything isn’t going as smoothly as we would like it to.

“We can’t avoid injuries – sometimes you have more, sometimes you have less – but we showed that even with the unlucky injuries at the moment that we manage to win games.”

“I believe we will benefit from players coming back into the team, once they are fit,” added the 33-year-old.

Although Cech is confident that Arsenal can finish at the top of the pile this season, he warned his teammates that the competitive nature of the division means that they cannot take anything for granted.

“The season is long and anything can happen. But if we stay where we are until March or April, then we have the chance to win the league.”

Arsenal travel to Southampton on Boxing Day before hosting Bournemouth two days later.
