Eyitayo-Jegede

A light rain on Saturday delayed voting in some parts of Akure, including Isikan, where the Peoples Democratic Party candidate Eyitayo Jegede is waiting to vote.

Mr Jegede and his wife Eno had arrived at Sacred Heart Primary School, ward 2 unit 10, Isikan, around 9 am and joined other voters in the queue.

The rain began about 20 minutes after his arrival.

Seventeen candidates are contesting the governorship election in Ondo State.

Jegede, the incumbent governor Rotimi Akeredolu and candidate of the Zenith Labour Party Agboola Ajayi are considered front-runners.

Also, heavy rain was recorded around 7:50 am in Owo town, the home town of Akeredolu.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived before 8 am at Unit 6 Ward 5 Isokun, Ijebu Owo where Akeredolu is expected to vote.
