A deputy comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Usman Ndagi has died in Abuja hours after losing his sister in Niger State, NIS spokesman has said.
Ndagi was only recently elevated to his new rank.
NIS spokesman Sunday James confirmed the incident to the news media on Tuesday.
“I learnt that the DCI died after hearing about the passage of his sister. He was such a religious man and was always at the mosque praying,” he said.
The deceased died last Thursday while his sister passed away on Wednesday.
The Niger State indigene has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
An acquaintance of the deceased Yax Mokwa in a Facebook post disclosed that Ndagi died shortly after complaining of dizziness.
Mokwa said Ndagi’s bags were being packed for the journey to Niger for the sister’s funeral.
