Filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has shared more behind the scene pictures from his adopted father Tunde Kelani’s Ayinla movie.
The 46-year-old shared the pictures on Instagram on Thursday.
The pictures revealed Kunle, Mr Kelani, comedian Mr Macaroni, Lateef Adedimeji, among others.
Kunle also said Ayinla will be Kelani’s fourth project he’ll be working on.
“Tunde Kelani and Kunle Afolayan Team Up AGAIN for a New Film Project. Brace up guys because Tunde Kelani is adding a historic title to his film catalogue!
“Based on the life of the late Apala musician; Ayinla Waheed Yusuf, popularly known as Ayinla Omowura, the legendary filmmaker; Tunde Kelani weaves his latest film titled Àyìnlá around the iconic Yoruba artiste,” he wrote.
Kunle, who is playing the role of Olabisi Ajala alias, ‘Ajala travel all over the world’ announced Mr Macaroni as a cast on Ayinla when he shared pictures from the set on Instagram on Wednesday.
He said, “It’s day 2 for me in Abeokuta on the set of ‘AYINLA’ a Tunde Kelani film @tkelani. I’m playing ‘Olabisi Ajala popular known as ‘Ajala travel all over the world’.”
The movie by Kelani is coming 40 years after Ayinla was fatally stabbed with a glass cup during a pub brawl on May 6, 1980, in Ago Ika, Abeokuta.
Kelani seeks to answer the questions “Who is Ayinla Omowura? Why is his music still relevant after his tragic death 40 years ago? And what is the root that nurtured his craft and music?”
Kunle Afolayan is the son of late theatre icon Adeyemi Afolayan, popularly known as Ade Love.
His first movie role was as Aresejabata in Kelani’s Saworoide released in 1999.
He reprised the role in the sequel Agogo Eewo released in 2002.
