Singer Omah Lay has thanked chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa, his family and fans for their support on getting released from Uganda prison.
Omah Lay was arrested alongside colleague Tems following their performance at The Big Brunch, which held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda on December 12.
The 23-year-old in a series of tweets explained that his intentions were never to endanger the citizens of Uganda on Thursday.
He said the past few days had been tough and he would not wish it on anyone.
“The past few days have been some of the toughest of my life that I wouldn’t wish them on anyone. Out in a new country with some beautiful people, the next thing I’m being treated like a common thief,” he wrote.
“Secondly, to my mom, my family, my team, my fans, friends that I caused sleepless nights waiting and praying for me, I apologize for putting you through all that,” he said.
In another tweet the ‘Godly’ singer said, “Big shout out to the musicians, the celebrities, fans (Again and again), my family, my friends, my Label, The Nigerian Mission in Uganda, The Presidency, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Madam Abike.”
After their arrest, singers Olamide, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy, Davido, among several others took to social media to call for their release.
Omah Lay and Tems were released on Tuesday.
They returned to Nigeria on Thursday.
