Rear Admiral Awwal Gambo has resumed duty as the 21st indigenous chief of naval staff.
Immediate past chief of naval staff Vice Admiral Ibot Ekwe-Ibas on Friday charged Gambo to sustain pressure on oil thieves and secure the nation’s maritime sector.
Gambo was born on April 22, 1966 and hails from Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
He enlisted into the Nigerian Navy in 1984 as a member of the Regular Course 36 and was commissioned sub-lieutenant in 1988.
Gambo was appointed CNS on Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari.
