Filmmaker turned politician Desmond Elliot has described late Nollywood director Chico Ejiro as a man “who loved my progress.”
Desmond, who represents Surulere Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, spoke at an evening of tribute organised for Chico at the National Theatre on Tuesday.
He said the deceased was interested in his political activities and offered suggestions when necessary.
According to him, Chico, who also had an office in Surulere, regularly sent messages and showed him respect.
“I begged him many times to stop calling me honourable, the man no gree,” he said.
Like others who spoke at the event which doubled as service of songs, Desmond prayed for Chico’s wife Joy Ejiro and their children, saying they shall reap the reward of the late filmmaker’s good works.
