The Senate on Thursday began screening the immediate past service chiefs nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari for ambassadorial roles.
The retired ex-service chiefs include Gabriel Olonisakin, Tukur Buratai, Ibok Ekwe Ibas, Sadique Abubakar, and former chief of defence intelligence Muhammad Usman.
They arrived at the Senate around 11am for the screening.
Members of the panel led by Senator Mohammed Bulkachuwa held a 15-minute closed-session before commencing the screening
Senate President Ahmad Lawan had on February 10 redirected the committee on foreign affairs to confirm them as non-career ambassadors.
