Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has reacted to the allegation that she lied about being the ambassador for the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission.
The 35-year-old in an Instagram post on Friday said she will never lie on the commission.
“My name is King Tonto Dikeh best believe I will never lie on a human being talk more of a commission of a federation.
“I will only simply say this is life we all know what can go wrong in 1 second. But we moveeee.. coming from a place of leadership and peace I wouldn’t fight this but I will walk away with my head held high and grow above it,” she wrote.
Tonto captioned the post saying, “There are video proofs, but I would Rather respect the commission’s decision And take the Fall. Thanks to every Christian body that fought against this Growth.”
NCPC boss Rev Yakubu Pam, in a statement on Friday night posted on Instagram said Tonto was never appointed ambassador, adding that the public should discard the report.
The statement reads: “I wish to state in categorical terms that King @tontolet paid an official courtesy visit to me as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission on 25th February, 2021 at the corporate headquarters of the Commission in Abuja.
“As the founder of @officalthetontodikehfoundation she expressed her willingness and interest in partnering with the Commission in the area of peace building.
“However, I am suddenly inundated with claims from King Tonto Dikeh herself that she has been officially appointed as Ambassador of peace by this great Commission. This claim has gone virile in the media.”
Tonto had shared pictures from her visit on Friday saying she has been appointed ambassador for peace building by NCPC.
“We had an extensive deliberation on NCPC vision, dissecting the values for National development and youth involvement in peace building in line with the NCPC’s mandate.”
Tonto was appointed director of socials and empowerment by the pro-government Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization (CYMS) in July 2020.
She was presented with the award of excellence as the Domestic Violence Advocate of the Year on November 12, 2020
The actress was also honoured by the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) for being a vanguard for youth emancipation and serving as a bridge for national unity and consensus in September 2020.
