Wife of former Senate President Toyin Saraki on Tuesday sent her condolences to the Togonu-Bickersteth family as they prepare to lay to rest their patriarch Seyi Togonu-Bickersteth.
In a tweet, Mrs Saraki described the late Togonu-Bickersteth, a former chairman of the defunct Diamond Bank, as the “Unpacker of the African Dream”.
She added: “My profound sympathies to Catherine, Melody, Amy and the Togonu-Bickersteth Family as we bade our final farewell to the beloved Mr Oluseyi Togonu-Bickersteth.
“Seyi, may your indelible legacies live on and grow, as you rest in peace. Amen.”
Togonu-Bickersteth was reportedly found dead in his Ikoyi, Lagos apartment in early March.
Until his death, he was a regional managing partner and chairman of Andersen Tax, Africa.
Togonu-Bickersteth was an alumnus of the University of Ibadan and York University, Canada where he obtained a bachelor’s and masters’ degrees in Economics respectively. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI).
He resigned from the board of Diamond Bank in 2018.
