Entertainer and activist Charly Boy on Wednesday celebrated 45 years of marriage to Diane Oputa.
The singer whose real name is Charles Oputa shared a picture of himself and Diana on his new Instagram handle, with a love note signed by his wife.
“45yrs, still counting. My husband has made me laugh. Wiped my tears. Hugged me tight. Watched me succeed. Seen me fail. Kept me strong. My husband is a promise that I will have a friend forever,” the note reads.
Although Charly Boy and Diana had been together for over 40 years and had several children, they were not wedded according to Christian rites until December 2018 when the duo exchanged marriage vows at Chapel of Sisters of Jesus the Redeemer Catholic Church in Gwarimpa, Abuja.
The ceremony was officiated by the Catholic bishop of Sokoto Diocese Matthew Kukah and had in attendance close friends and relatives of the couple, including the aged mother of Charly Boy.
The then Archbishop of Abuja Catholic Diocese, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, was also in attendance.
Onaiyekan, in his exhortation, hailed the couple for staying together for over four decades.
He however, urged them to be committed to their marriage vows by showing mutual love, understanding and respect for each other.
The couple also made headlines by riding to the wedding venue in a tricycle.
