The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, on Tuesday, April 6 prayed for Fuji singer Saheed Osupa at the grand finale of the Beere Festival in Saki, Oyo State.
Osupa, who performed at the event, shared pictures of him prostrating before the monarch who proceeded to bless him on Instagram.
“Iku Baba Yeye was there, and bestowed upon me his blessing,” the 51-year-old wrote.
In another post, the singer said the significance of the festival is to spread love between the Obas (monarchs) and their people,” adding that the 2021 edition was an excellent one.
Pictures of the Alaafin and Osupa were also shared on the monarch’s Instagram page.
One of them was captioned “Alaafin of Oyo praying for King (Dr.) Osupa the Fuji maestro.”
Oba Adeyemi attended the Beere Festival in the company of some of his wives.
He was received by his host, the Okere of Saki Land, Oba Khalid Oyedepo, who also came out with his wives.
Other traditional rulers present at the festival included Iba of Kisi, Oba Moshood Lawal, and Onpetu of Ijeru, Oba Sunday Oyediran.
Also present to pay homage to the Alaafin was Shina Peller who represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency of Oyo State in the House of Representatives.
The Beere festival is organised to showcase the cultural uniqueness of Saki Land.
“This year’s festival is unique because it is being celebrated under a unique, reformed and refined monarch because we have never had it so good like this in Saki, so we want this year’s festival to be different from the previous editions,” chairman of the local organising committee, High Chief Abdul-Rasheed Adegoke, told journalists at a press conference ahead of the festival.
