The #HarassBuhariOutofLondon protest has been temporarily suspended to allow President Muhammadu Buhari observe the Ramadan fast, convener of the protest Reno Omokri announced on Tuesday.
The suspension followed announcement by the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar that Ramadan would start in the country on Tuesday, April 13.
Mr Omokri, a former presidential aide, has been leading the #HarassBuhariOutofLondon protest since the president travelled to London for medical check-up.
Announcing the suspension, Omokri also urged the group led by Sahara Reporters’ publisher Omoyele Sowore to suspend its protest.
“Due to the Ramadan fast which began today, we have decided to temporarily suspend #HarassBuhariOutofLondon to allow General @MBuhari observe his fast in peace. I call on @YeleSowore’s #BuhariMustGo group to consider this. If he makes an attempt to see his doctors, we will resume,” he tweeted.
Buhari left the country for London on March 30. He is expected back in Nigeria in the second week of April.
