Bandits have released one of the abducted students of Greenfield University in Kaduna State.
The student’s mother Lauritta Attahiru confirmed her son’s release to Channels Television on Tuesday. The government and police are yet to speak on it.
Mrs Attahiru refused to give more information about the release.
This comes against the backdrop of threat by bandits to kill the students if their parents and government fail to pay N100 million ransom and also provide 10 new motorcycles.
About 16 students are still in captivity following the release of Attahiru’s son. Five have been killed.
The broadcast channel gathered learnt that Attahiru’s son was released on Saturday after his mother, who is the wife of a retired army officer from Plateau State paid ransom to the bandits privately.
