First lady Aisha Buhari has called on parents to take responsibility for their children and protect them from abuse and other social vices.
Mrs Buhari stated this on Thursday in her Sallah message to Nigerians.
“On the occasion of Eid el Fitr, which celebrates the end of this year’s Ramadan fast, I congratulate all Muslims and pray Allah to accept our supplications,” she said in the message posted to Instagram.
“I convey my message of goodwill to Nigerians and use this opportunity to strongly appeal to parents to take responsibility for their children by guiding and protecting them against abuse and other social vices.
“They must watch movements within their neighborhoods and report suspected dealings. Finally, I call on all muslims to sustain the spirit of fasting through continued peaceful coexistence. Eid Mubarak.”
Mrs Buhari has been unusually quiet since returning to Nigeria in March after six months away from the country on medical trip.
Her biography Aisha Buhari: Being different written by Hajo Sani was launched in April.
