Former Lagos governorship candidate Jimi Agbaje has denied speaking with an online news platform Peoples Gazette where he was reported to have criticised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Mr Agbaje who has contested severally for the Lagos governorship seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party was alleged to have made the statement while speaking with the platform on Saturday.
The report said he spoke in reaction to Mr Sanwo-Olu’s press conference held at the State House, Marina last Monday where he reeled out some of his administration’s works across the state.
“They mentioned that they are building schools somewhere, what are they building? Some of the things they have said that they are doing, they are in their dreams,” Mr Agbaje was quoted to have said.
However, in a tweet on Sunday night, Agbaje said he did not speak with the reporter or with anyone from the platform.
“My attention has been drawn to a publication credited to a Mayowa Samuel on an online platform @GazetteNGR Peoples Gazette,” he wrote.
“The said Mayowa Samuel claimed to have interviewed me.
“For the records, I granted no such interview to him or anyone from Peoples Gazette.”
The report has subjected the former governorship candidate to criticism on social media.
Agbaje was the PDP’s governorship candidate for Lagos in 2019, losing to Sanwo-Olu.
