The Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed three spots in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday for the month of January.
There was little change across the overall ranking table, with very few countries participating in A-rated matches over the past month.
Belgium leads the global ranking with Argentina, Spain, Germany and Chile completing the top five in that order.
Coach Sunday Oliseh’s team did however manage to bump up three spots to 63rd, with their next scheduled encounter a 2017 Nations Cup qualifier against African giants Egypt who are eight places better.
The Eagles scooped a total of 543 points which took them to 12th position on the continent.
Cote d’Ivoire retains its place as Africa’s best football nation – followed by Cape Verde, Algeria, Ghana and Senegal.
The world’s top 18 ranked sides remained unchanged, with the Palestine the biggest movers in the overall rankings, moving up 21 places to 110.
In the world’s top 50 ranked teams, 31 are Europeans, with just 6 African countries.
