Controversy has trailed the health of founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations Prophet Temitope Joshua.
Some online news platforms reported the man fondly called T.B. Joshua dead in Lagos on Saturday, saying he died after a church programme and that the family were preparing a statement.
According to Peoples Gazette, “family sources said his remains had been deposited at the morgue and an autopsy would be performed forthwith.”
However, a vocal supporter of the cleric, Femi Fani-Kayode, former aviation minister, described the report as “fake news”.
“The story that is being peddled around by some fake news merchants that my dearest friend and brother, Prophet T.B. Joshua of SCOAN, is dead is FALSE!” he tweeted.
“It is FAKE NEWS in its most hideous form. The Prophet is alive and well and he shall live long and prosper. Glory hallelujah!”
But Wikipedia has edited Joshua’s profile suggesting he had died, although it was silent on the time, place and circumstances surrounding his alleged death as of press time.
With a large following around the world, Joshua’s YouTube channel was suspended earlier this year over a video where he was seen casting out homosexuality from a person.
In 2014, a section of his church’s headquarters in Lagos collapsed, leaving dozens killed and many injured.
Aged 57, Joshua was born on June 12, 1963 at Arigidi-Akoko, Ondo State.
