General overseer of Christ Apostolic Church, Vineyard of Comfort, popularly known as CAC Agbala Itura, Samuel Abiara, has dismissed speculations that Pentecostal preachers in Nigeria did not want to be associated with the late Prophet T.B. Joshua.
Joshua who founded the Synagogue Church of All Nations died on June 5 in Lagos.
Influential Christian leaders in the country have been silent about Joshua’s death. Many of them have also not paid a visit to the widow Evelyn Joshua.
Speaking with Vanguard in an interview published on Sunday, Abiara said there is no division in the Christian community.
“There is too much fake news nowadays. I want to tell you that the leaders of the church and the body of Christ are one, and, as far as I’m concerned, we did not have hatred for the late Pastor T.B. Joshua. He was a man of God and God used him mightily,” he said.
“He had the gift of signs and wonders and the spirit of giving and he helped people. Nigeria did not hate the ministry of that man; he boosted the economy of the country. Many people were coming from all over the world to worship and fellowship with him.
“He was a great man of God. It is not too late at all to offer condolences to his family and the church. You may not know that they have sent letters of condolences to the family and church, so don’t judge anyone yet.”
Abiara paid a condolence visit to Joshua’s widow on June 9.
While condoling with her during the visit, he said the works of the prophet will not die. He also urged Evelyn to be strong and remain faithful to the call of God.
“The work that God did through him showed he was a real man of God whether you believed him or not. He was our son. When he was alive I called him several times and I loved his work. Who are we to query God? If we don’t understand, God understands,” Abiara had said in Yoruba.
