Wife of activist Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho has been abducted following an attack at his Ibadan residence on Thursday morning, historian Prof. Banji Akintoye has said.
The attack comes hours before Sunday Igboho and Yoruba nation agitators take to Lagos for a mega rally.
Akintoye, who is the leader of the umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, said in a statement that “the assailants were all dressed in military uniform and spoke French language fluently.”
He further said that “the gunmen killed seven occupants in the building and whisked Igboho’s wife and several others away.”
Pictures from the activist’s house show vehicles vandalised by the assailants, blood stains on the floor and shattered glasses.
Meanwhile, Akintoye is also billed to attend the rally in Lagos.
Although the agitators have held peaceful rallies in other parts of the south-west, the gathering scheduled for July 3 in Lagos is raising a lot of dusts.
