Nollywood actresses Iyabo Ojo, Tonto Dikeh and Mercy Aigbe have criticised actor Yomi Fabiyi over his new movie Oko Iyabo (Iyabo’s husband).
In the movie, Yomi depicts a case involving fellow actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha who is facing charges of sexual assault of a minor.
Iyabo in an Instagram post on Monday called on the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners’ Association (TAMPAN) to act promptly.
Iyabo and Yomi have both publicly clashed over Baba Ijesha’s case. Yomi took sides with Baba Ijesha while Iyabo condemned them both.
Iyabo said Yomi portrayed a young girl with the mischievous career goal to be a prostitute.
“I’m honestly waiting our elders in the industry to grant another press conference and address the sad issue on a movie that promote abuse and ridicules a girl child…,” Iyabo wrote.
She added that the president of TAMPAN and the association’s elders like Jide Kosoko and Adebayo Salami should “should swing into action and caution the producer and all persons involved in this film.”
Tonto, who had not previously commented on the matter publicly, said she was asahmed of Yomi and that what he did was a slap in the victim’s mother’s face.
“It’s a slap on all rape victims(dead or alive). Yomi, I expected better of you. My prayers for you is that you find men and women who will fight for your children if they see injustice but God forbid they ever see it,” she added.
Mercy also reacted on Instagram, “How on earth would you make mockery of someone’s agonizing pain! How????? Only a wicked soul would do that!!!!! Just that particular scene I saw of your movie is insensitive, utterly distasteful and disgusting!”
