Former minister of aviation Femi Fani-Kayode says he is “glad” the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) attended the funeral service of Prophet T.B. Joshua at the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos.
A delegation of the association represented by five elders attended the Friday burial ceremony.
CAN faced criticism when it reacted three days after Joshua died on June 5. The association issued a terse statement to condole with his family and SCOAN congregation.
However, Mr Fani-Kayode, who had consistently called for Joshua to be accepted by the body while the preacher was alive, tweeted on Friday night that he welcomed CAN’s participation at the funeral.
He said, “Glad that CAN attended the burial of my friend & brother Prophet T.B. Joshua & that they described him as ‘a great man of God’ & ‘a blessing to humanity’. They have spoken the truth. Their acknowledgement of his great ministry & massive contribution to the Body of Christ has gone a long way to bring healing, unity and peace to the Christian community in Nigeria. Kudos to them.”
He added, “May the soul of God’s ‘End-time’ General & one of the brightest stars & greatest Ambassadors of Christendom, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, rest in peace.”
Fani-Kayode spoke at the tribute service held in Joshua’s honour on Tuesday.
Top pastors in Nigeria did not attend Joshua’s funeral; however, Muslims, Jews, atheists and traditionalists were at the ceremony.
Prophets and prophetesses from the church and across nations also performed burial rites at Joshua’s graveside.
Governors and visitors from all over the world were also at the burial of the preacher who died at the age of 57.
