Former Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, on Saturday announced that he has “unfollowed” The Economist magazine on Twitter for calling former President Goodluck Jonathan “Ineffectual buffoon”.
Chidoka, who was elevated by Jonathan from his position as CEO of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to head the aviation ministry made the announcement in a message he posted on Facebook.
He described the magazine’s choice of words as racist and derogatory.
“I have just unfollowed The Economist Magazine on Twitter for using racist and derogatory word against former President Goodluck Jonathan,” he wrote.
He is of the opinion that the reference to Jonathan was a collective insult on Nigeria since “only buffoons can elect a buffoon”.
The Obosi, Anambra born politician then added that he will not buy the magazine again until it apologises.
Others who served along with him in the Jonathan administration have not signed up to his crusade against The Economist.
The likes of Musiliu Obanikoro, Reuben Abati, Doyin Okupe and Reno Omokri are among the over 12.7million people who follow the magazine on Twitter alone.
