Senior pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly Biodun Fatoyinbo has expressed support for the founder of Living Faith Church International, aka Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, who sacked some pastors for being “unfruitful”.
One of about 40 affected pastors Peter Godwin had brought the matter to public notice when he took to social media to vent over the sack.
Following the controversy that ensued, Oyedepo told his congregation that the pastors were sacked for being “unfruitful”, adding that they were “blatant failure”.
Fatoyinbo, who considers Oyedepo one of his spiritual fathers, said in an Instagram post on Friday that there is no room for laziness and unfruitfulness.
“No room for laziness and unfruitfulness. Question: If you were fired in the bank for not meeting up with your deliverables, will you go on social media?” he wrote.
As contained in the Bible in Luke 13, Fatoyinbo said, “He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
“Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
“And if it bears fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.”
