US Court to sentence Hushpuppi in October

Hushpuppi

The United States attorney’s office at the Central District of California says the suspected Nigerian fraudster Ramon Abass aka Hushpuppi will be sentenced in October 2021.

A spokesperson for the court Thom Mrozek told PUNCH in an emailed inquiry on Friday.

“Hushpuppi is currently scheduled to be sentenced in late October,” Mrozek said.

The court also confirmed that it ordered the FBI to arrest deputy commissioner of police in Nigeria Abba Kyari, who is being wanted for his alleged role in a $1m scam allegedly perpetrated by Hushpuppi and others.

According to Mrozek, it is standard operating procedure for nearly all criminal cases filed by the office.

But the Police Service Commission says it is the only body authorised to discipline erring police officers.

Meanwhile, Hushpuppi has since pleaded guilty to fraud charges.
