The news media have been awash with reports about the assassination of a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church God (RCCG) in Lagos.
Reports had said gunmen killed the pastor named Bolanle Ibrahim inside the King of King Parish located at Mile 12 area of Lagos State.
It was alleged that the assailants stormed the church and made straight for the pulpit where Ibrahim, an assistant pastor, was praying for mothers and their children who were brought for dedication.
The pastor was reportedly dragged from the pulpit and shot.
However, Lagos police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi told Leadership that the police are not aware of any pastor being assassinated in Lagos.
Mr Adejobi said the only case reported was that of a man, a worker in the church, who was assassinated by unknown gunmen inside the church at Ogudu area of the state.
He said, “From our own little information, we gathered that the man has been tailed by an assailant right from outside because he was finally killed inside the church.
“We are investigating the case because we have a clue into the killing. We will unravel the case.”
