Senator Dino Melaye says he never asked the public to stop posting pictures of himself and the alleged fraudster Ramon Abass aka Hushpuppi.
Melaye stated this in an Instagram post on Friday, saying he was a political celebrity and that there was no reason to deny his association with Hushpuppi or anyone.
“There was never a time l ask people not to post my pictures with Hushpuppi or anyone for that matter because there is no reason to.
“Am a political celebrity, please continue posting jare. Wetin bird chop na im e go carry fly,” the former Kogi West lawmaker wrote.
Last year, some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party including Melaye, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President Bukola Saraki were linked to Hushpuppi.
While Saraki and Atiku denied the links, Melaye remained silent.
Hushpuppi has implicated several persons including a deputy commissioner of police in Nigeria Abba Kyari since pleading guilty to internet fraud in the United States.
Hushpuppi, known for flaunting wealth on Instagram, was arrested in Dubai, UAE last year and extradited to the United States to face fraud charges.
