Big Brother Naija ex-housemate Dorathy Bachor has accused officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of breaking into her home.
The reality star made this known in an Instagram post on Monday, describing the experience as traumatic.
“At 4:35 I heard a loud bang and voices, I rushed out to see five armed EFCC men in my living room and one of them saying ‘Oh na that Big brother girl be this’.
“In my confused state, I was trying to understand why they broke down my door. Then one of them said they were looking for someone who ran into the estate and I should lock my door and stay indoors and not say a word.
I’m shaking at this point and so confused because how exactly is this even okay?
“Still shaking I’m trying to close my already broken door when my sister screamed my name and I ran back upstairs to see my mum almost having a panic attack. I’m shaking at this point and so confused because at what point is this okay?
“What is the need of being a citizen of this country when I can’t feel safe in my own house. I’ve never felt so helpless in my own life,” she wrote.
In July 2021, it was reported that filmmaker Biodun Stephen accused the officials of the EFCC of harassment.
“That is how I slept in a hotel whilst filming last week. Next thing, I open my eyes at a little past 3:00 am; what did I see? Two men dressed in black with weapons. I thought I was dreaming.
“Then I heard the door to my room close; I sprang up, and without thinking, shouted. ‘Stay right there! Who are you?’ They replied, ‘we are EFCC’.
“One just open him mouth waaa. ‘where is the man of the room?’ I was confused. ‘The who?’ He replied, ‘your partner.’ Anger well up inside me,” she wrote in parts.
According to her, the officials apologized to her after realizing that she was not the person they were looking for.
