Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been inducted as the chancellor of Cavendish University in Uganda.
Mr Jonathan broke the news in a Facebook post on Thursday.
“I am pleased to have been formally inaugurated as the chancellor of Cavendish University, Uganda and to have performed my first official function in that capacity at the 10th Graduation Ceremony of the University today in Kampala, Uganda,” he wrote.
“I congratulate the new graduates and urge them to deploy their knowledge towards positively impacting people, building a community of reformers and improving society.”
Jonathan was appointed chancellor of the university about two months ago. He is the varsity’s third chancellor since its establishment in 2008.
Jonathan has won himself numerous appointments since becoming the first Nigerian president to concede defeat after an election.
Before joining politics, the former president was a lecturer at Rivers State College of Education, Rumuolumeni which is now Ignatius Ajuru University.
He has a PhD in zoology.
