The Super Eagles have arrived Cape Verde ahead of Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier.
The team arrived on Monday at the Amilcar Cabral International Airport.
An update posted on social media said the team could not land in Sao Vincente where the match will be played because the Cesária Évora Airport had closed.
“We’re still here and will take off from here soon. It’s just an hour flight,” the post read.
The Super Eagles defeated Liberia 2-0 last week in the first World Cup qualifying match played in Lagos. Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho scored both goals.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will be without her UK-based players in the game against Cape Verde owing to the British government’s strict regulations on COVID-19 red list countries which includes Cape Verde.
The affected players include defenders Olaoluwa Aina, William Ekong and Leon Balogun.
Forwards Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi are also unavailable.
Midfielders Oghenekaro Etebo, Wilfred Ndidi and Joseph Ayodele-Aribo have also left camp.
