Evelyn Joshua, widow of founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations Prophet T. B. Joshua, has officially been announced as the new leader of the church.
This comes more than two months after Joshua was buried at the basement of his church in Ikotun, Lagos on July 9.
The church announced the new leadership in a Facebook post on Saturday night after months of tussle for Joshua’s successor.
A 51-minute video posted by the church read, “We thank you all for your prayers and your love for the ministry since the glorious home call of our dear father, servant of the Most High God Prophet T.B. Joshua. We thank you for keeping the faith.
“It is now God’s appointed time to the glory of God for the SCOAN to soldier on with the divine assignment under the guidance of God and the human leadership of Mrs Evelyn Joshua. We urge you all to join us in prayer as we wish her God’s guidance and divine wisdom in her new God ordained role.”
It added that she would address the church members and partners shortly.
The announcement comes days after a Federal High Court in Lagos appointed her as a trustee of the church.
Evelyn played the role of second-in-command to her husband before his death on June 5. She was both a preacher and counsellor to church members.
Evelyn and Joshua were married for 31 years and had three children together.
In October 2020, Joshua said in an interview with some journalists published in ThisDay newspaper that he does not put his wife on the spotlight because only God could do so.
“I have a wife and I have children. My first daughter is doing her PhD and my second daughter is doing her master’s degree. In all, I have three daughters. The last one is still in secondary school. I would have loved my wife to be like me but I cannot make her what I am; it is God. I can’t anoint her; God is the one that anoints people,” he said.
