The national president of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has said that his statement about Nollywood not being a dumping ground for evictees was misunderstood.
Mr.Rollas in an Instagram post on September 5, said that “Nollywood is not a dumping ground for evictees.”
His statement caused a lot of reactions from his colleagues and fans who criticised him for his statement.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Emeka said his statement was misunderstood.
“I don’t even how some Nigerians reason. I only made a statement, not a law. It is either you agree with me or not. At the end of the day, people were just cursing. My statement was filled with figures of speech but people are interpreting it literally. There are a lot of former BBN housemates who are members of AGN, and they are doing very well. I did not ban (anybody from the industry). If my statement is narrowed down to Tega and Boma; if the script they claimed they acted in BBN was good enough, why were they evicted on the same day?”
Speaking on what AGN was doing to encourage more actors to take advantage of their healthcare programmes, Rollas said;
“Those who believe in what is being pushed out are taking advantage of it and those who don’t believe in it are also there. It is our duty to keep on sensitising people.”
