President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday received FIFA president Gianni Infantino and CAF president Patrice Motsepe at the State House, Abuja.
The president received a presentation from Infantino, Motsepe and the sports minister Sunday Dare.
The officials are in Nigeria for the kick-off of the Aisha Buhari Football Tournament which commenced on Wednesday. First lady Aisha Buhari also met separately with the officials. She said she was excited over the attention the tournament had received.
“We had fruitful discussions on female football as it relates to the development of the girl child and women empowerment in general.
“I am happy with the attention this tournament has attracted world wide,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
The president’s son-in-law Ahmed Indimi also met Infantino during the visit. He shared a photo of himself and the FIFA boss on Instagram.
The Super Falcons beat Mali’s national female side 2-0 in match day one of the tournament.
