Inspector general of police Usman Baba has reportedly restored police personnel that were withdrawn from politicians, businessmen and others who were not constitutionally entitled to such privilege.
The immediate past police boss Mohammed Adamu had withdrawn the police orderlies due to shortage in personnel.
More than 60 prominent Nigerians and corporate entities were affected by the withdrawal at the time.
PUNCH quoted a police officer attached to a real estate mogul as saying that most of the withdrawn policemen have returned to their principals.
Speaking on the development, Force spokesman Frank Mba said the order withdrawing police personnel still stands, however, the police owe certain individuals like political office holders and high-risk individuals in the business and corporate world extra protection.
“The personnel who have been withdrawn can only return if there are new facts which required a review of the initial decision in their favour,” he said.
