Nollywood veteran Chiwetalu Agu has reacted to his arrest by Nigerian soldiers, stating that he wore a civil dress and not a Biafran flag outfit.
In a video shared on Instagram on Friday, the actor was seen in the company of some soldiers who led him to their office as he continued to plead that he did not wear a Biafran uniform.
“This is rising sun, not Biafra, not eastern security network, do you understand? With my education, I know areas to go and areas not to go.
“Your oga is coming, they know how to react to facts, rising sun, and you talked about that market, this is just a civil dress, I was buying bread, sharing them one by one, no campaign, nothing when they came,” he said in the video.
The 65-year-old was arrested on Thursday after soldiers spotted him wearing an outfit made from the Biafran flag.
Reacting to his arrest the national president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria Emeka Rollas said: “I don’t know why he put on Biafra regalia. The state is hot. We are in talk with the military officials to ensure he his released. I heard they have taken him to 82 Division of the Nigeria Military base. We will do our best.”
