Nollywood actress Shan George has reacted to a video of Chiwetalu Agu denying that the outfit he wore when he was arrested is the Biafran flag.
Chiwetalu was arrested in Onitsha, Anambra State by soldiers on Thursday after he was spotted wearing an outfit made from the Biafran flag.
The Nigerian Army alleged in a statement released after the arrest that the actor was inciting members of the public and soliciting support for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
However, in a viral video after his arrest, the actor said he was only sharing bread to hungry Nigerians. He also added that he was not in any way campaigning with the outfit.
According to him, his outfit is just a civilian dress with the image of a rising sun, which has no connection to IPOB or the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Reacting in a now-deleted Instagram post on Friday, Shan George countered the 67-year-old, saying that he was wearing the Biafran flag and he should own it.
”My dear brother, you are clearly wearing a Biafra flag and you should own it with your full chest. I don’t get all the rising sun English you are speaking. I personally see nothing wrong in certain people fighting for their freedom.
”Nigeria fought for theirs from the British before 1960. Scotland and the rest fought for theirs too, at least you were not carrying any arms, fighting for freedom peacefully shouldn’t be a crime, own your fight with your full chest,” she wrote.
