Media mogul Dele Momodu on Sunday criticised Fuji musician K1 De Ultimate following a video where the singer was seen speaking with the Oluwo of Iwo Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi.
Speaking in Yoruba, K1 says in the video after paying homage to the monarch that the monarch should have called to inform him he was in town.
Mr Momodu said he got the video from a friend of his in Abuja. He described K1’s action as “open disrespect” to Oba Akanbi.
“A friend in Abuja has just sent this video to me and I’m absolutely horrified, to say the least, at the total and OPEN disrespect of The Oluwo of Iwoland OBA ABDULRASHEED ADEWALE AKANBI by KING WASIU AYINDE, a great musician I endlessly adore and hold in highest esteem,” Momodu wrote in an Instagram post.
The Ovation Magazine boss also accused K1 of shunning his (Momodu’s) installation as the Aare of Iwo Kingdom by Oba Akanbi on October 2.
“ALHAJI, I personally invited you and pleaded with you to perform at the ceremony on October 2, 2021, for an agreed fee, but you neither said Yes nor No but said you’re likely to travel,” he said.
Momodu said he hosted K1’s manager Kunle Rasheed to breakfast and asked him to speak to the singer to confirm modalities for K1’s performance, but it did not yield fruit.
“Egbon, what happened in this video is very unfortunate and deserves OPEN condemnation,” he concluded.
