Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale and three others have been remanded in police custody for one week after pleading ‘not guilty’ to allegation of spreading false information, following claims that the singer was shot.
According to several internet posts on Monday, the reggae singer was allegedly shot at East Legon in Ghana. The singer’s spokesperson, Nana Dope, revealed that the singer is alive and has been taken to the emergency ward of a hospital.
The Ghanaian Police however arrested him on Tuesday October 19.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the police said the singer who turned himself in, was arrested to assist the police in investigations for his alleged involvement in the creation and circulation of information intended to cause fear and panic.
The 37-year-old and his alleged accomplices, Kojo Owusu Koranteng, Idris Yusif, and Eric Venator pleaded not guilty to the charges of publication of false news and causing fear and panic, after being arraigned in court on Thursday, October 21.
The four men are scheduled to appear in court again on October 26, 2021.
