Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson on Friday, October 22, accused a teacher of bullying her daughter purity Okojie.
The mother of four in a lengthy Instagram post said that the teacher has been bullying her daughter for two weeks.
According to her, the teacher said she does not like the actress and that children of celebrities are ‘badly behaved’.
“Since when is it a crime to be Mercy Johnson-Okojie’s daughter? Before I consider myself a public figure, I am first a WIFE and a MOTHER to my 4 kids, that is my priority in this life and nobody can make my child feel less than who she is because her mother is a celebrity.
“A teacher at my child’s school has been bullying my daughter constantly for 2 weeks. She is not her class teacher yet she shows up at her class everyday to intimidate her! Uses biros to flick her hair. Tells her that she does not like her mother, tells her that celebrity kids are badly behaved and she should not bring her ‘aura, she stop feeling proud,” she wrote.
Mercy also said that her daughter who loves going to school has become terrified because of the teacher.
“An 8-year-old! Purity that used to love going to school is terrified of going to her new school because of her this teacher. Purity would greet her; she would not respond. Purity would report this to me every day, honestly, I thought she might be worrying too much,” the actress wrote.
Narrating the event that led to the call out, Mercy claimed that Purity was shoved by a classmate who she pushed back only for the teacher to discipline her daughter and not the other pupil. She, however, confronted the teacher who told her that she does not care and she would punish the child anytime she likes.
The matter was reported to the authorities who promised to handle the situation.
The 37-year-old concluded by saying that she will not stand by and allow her child to be victimised.
Celebrities such as Toyin Abraham who is one of Mercy’s close friends requested the name of the teacher and the school.
Yvonne Jegede described Purity as mature and well-behaved.
Mary Remmy, Ruth Kadiri, Omawumi Nosa Rex and Toolz also drummed support for the actress.
