Queen Damilola, one of the estranged wives of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has apologised to the monarch and the entire royal family for speaking ill of the king after she left the palace in April.
Damilola had alleged she was locked up in a cell for going against palace rules.
However, in an Instagram post on Sunday, Damilola asked for the monarch’s forgiveness saying she was misled by friends.
“I want to use this medium to tender unreserved apologies to the entire families of Adeyemi (Alaafin of Oyo) over my last post,” she said, adding that she was not apologising under duress.
Going further, she said, “That all that I said in my last post about leaving the palace and that Alaafin was not taking care of me and all what I said negatively concerning him (Alaafin) was false. It was friends that mislead me and out of frustration (sic).”
Damilola said she was sincerely sorry for trying to bring down the royal family, saying she had been to Lagos and Abuja to seek the forgiveness of the royal family.
“And to all those that contribute one money of the other when I get back to palace I will definitely refund you people (sic),” she said.
Damilola is not the only estranged wife of the 83-year-old monarch. The others are Badirat Ajoke, popularly known as Queen Ola; and Queen Aanuoluwa.
