General overseer of Champions Royal Assembly Prophet Joshua Iginla on Saturday, October 30 laid his mother Deaconess Mariamo Iginla to rest in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
At the funeral service, many attested to the fact that the deceased was a lover of God, an evangelist and a unifier whenever the need arose.
Iginla, on his part, described his mother as one who was always concerned about the things of God.
Deaconess Mariamo was buried near her husband, Pa Iginla.
Among attendees were the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who was represented by his wife Olori Naomi Ogunwusi; Senator Grace Bent, Gen. Jackson Bent (rtd), Apostle Lawrence Oyedeji and his wife, Lulu Oyetunji.
Guests were treated to sumptuous meals at the reception which was held at an event centre after the internment.
A service of songs was held on Friday, October 29 in honour of Deaconess Mariamo. The music band Adegbodu Twins led attendees in soul-lifting songs in celebration of the deceased’s legacy.
A thanksgiving service was held on Sunday, October 31 at the Abuja-based church to round off the funeral.
Iginla had revealed in a Facebook post on October 29 that the Ooni and his wife donated 10 cows for the funeral.
The cleric said he was thankful for such an expression of love from the revered monarch.
“I feel it is honorable to appreciate Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; (Ọjájá Il) of Ife Kingdom, an humble, intelligent and wise king alongside his Majestic wife, Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi an extraordinary Queen graced with divine capacity for their kind gesture towards the burial ceremony of my beloved mother,” he wrote.
This is not the first time the Ooni will be associating with Iginla.
During Iginla’s birthday celebration earlier this year, the Ooni was at the preacher’s church with his wife to felicitate him.
