Defence counsels in the trial of a student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Chidinma Ojukwu over the death of Super TV CEO Usifo Ataga on Tuesday said they were served illegible statements by the prosecution.
They also complained that the audio interviews of the defendants were inaudible.
Justice Yetunde Adesanya thereafter directed the Lagos State director of public prosecution (DPP) to provide clearer statements and audible copies of the interviews to all the defence counsels before the end of the day.
Adesanya further adjourned the matter to November 11, 15, 16, 17, 26 and 30 for trial.
The three defendants were arraigned on October 12 on a nine-count charge for allegedly conspiring to murder Ataga on June 15 in the Lekki area of Lagos.
Ms Ojukwu and Adedapo Quadri are facing the first eight counts on the charge bordering on conspiracy, murder, stabbing, forgery and stealing.
The third defendant who is Ojukwu’s sister, Chioma Egbuchu, is facing the ninth count charge of stealing Ataga’s iPhone 7.
Their counsels are Onwuka Egbu, Babatunde Busari and A.O. Ogunsanya respectively.
The first two defendants were also accused of committing forgery by procuring bank account statements purported to have been made by the deceased.
They were also alleged to have forged UBA account statement of one Mary from June 1, 2021, an international passport and a driver’s licence in Ojukwu’s name.
