Al-Shabab forward Odion Ighalo on Thursday rejoined the Super Eagles two years after announcing his retirement from international football.
Ighalo, 32, was among those called up by coach Gernot Rohr for the team’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against the Lone Stars of Liberia.
The former Manchester United striker joined the team before the evening training in Tangier, Morocco.
“I am happy to be back,” Ighalo said, “It has been long, two years plus. It is good to see some of the guys.”
The ex-Watford player announced his international retirement after finishing as the top scorer with five goals at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Rohr had long fancied having Ighalo back in the team.
