Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has bagged a master’s degree in international relations at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK.
President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Akinwumi Adesina revealed in a tweet on Saturday that Atiku, 74, was awarded the degree on Thursday.
“I congratulate H.E. Atiku Abubakar @atiku former Vice President of Nigeria on passing 2 days ago his Masters in International Relations degree program at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK,” Adesina tweeted.
“Your investments in & devotion to higher education are inspiring. Well done Sir!” he added.
Adesina had also revealed in July that Atiku was undergoing a master’s degree programme in the UK.
“He loves education and its power to create transformation change,” Adesina said while delivering a convocation lecture at American University of Nigeria in Yola, Adamawa State which is owned by Atiku.
“I was joking with him recently and asked why at his age, he had gone back to study for a master’s degree in international relations in the UK.
“He told me that he wanted to obtain the degree, so that he could find out why he did the things he did while in government.”
