Disc jockey DJ Switch has reacted to the revelation made by the Lagos State judicial panel of inquiry on restitution for victims of police brutality.
The panel headed by Justice Doris Okwuobi (rtd) had on Monday revealed that nine persons were killed at the Lekki toll gate when soldiers stormed the area on October 20, 2020.
Reacting to the report on Twitter, DJ Switch wrote: “Shattered so many lives, tried to destroy mine, Only for what you desperately tried to hide to be made public by you! The truth needs no defense.”
According to the panel, at least 48 protesters were either shot dead, injured with bullet wounds or assaulted by soldiers. Nine protesters were confirmed dead, while four were presumed dead.
Among the 48 listed as victims of the incident, the panel said about 20 sustained gunshot injuries, while 13 others were assaulted by the military.
It identified those killed as Victor Ibanga, Abuta Solomon, Jide, Olalekan Ashafa, Olamilekan Ajasa, Kolade Salami, Folorunsho Olabisi, Kenechukwu Ugoh and Nathaniel Solomon.
Those presumed dead are Abiodun Adesanya, Ifeanyi Eji, Tola and Wisdom.
Switch is one of a number of celebrities who were at the forefront of the #EndSARS movement which caught the world’s attention.
She fled the country after receiving death threats following her role in filming on Instagram the shooting of #EndSARS protesters by men in military uniform at Lekki toll gate in Lagos on October 20.
