The remains of Sani Dangote, younger brother of Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote, is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday from the United States, according to a friend of the family.
Abubakar Dalhatu, who stays with the Dantata family (Dangote’s grandparent), told BBC Pidgin of the funeral plan.
However, it was gathered that the delay caused by documentation ensured Sani’s body had not left the US as of Tuesday afternoon.
Sani, vice president of Dangote Group, died on Sunday after a brief illness in the US.
Abubakar said the late Sani, 61, had one wife and eight children. He also said Africa’s richest man Dangote will escort the corpse back to Nigeria.
High profile individuals such as governors, business persons and ministers are expected at the funeral.
Daily Trust learnt that the funeral prayer may be observed at Dangote’s residence in Nasarawa GRA, Kano.
Although he was not as popular as Dangote, Sani also had several business interests.
He was the chairman of Dansa Holdings, a subsidiary of the Dangote Group that produces beverages.
He also owned Dansa Foods Limited, Dansa Energy, Sagas Energy Limited, Bulk Pack Services Limited, Dansa Agro Allied Limited, and Dangote Farms Limited.
