Actress Funke Akindele has received an Emperor Award for Best Cinema Movie Producer for her hit movie Omo Ghetto: The Saga.
The excited actress shared the good news on Instagram on Thursday, displaying the award.
“Omo GhettoTo The World! On behalf of the cast and crew of #OmoGhettoTheSagaMovie, we say thank you @EmperorAward for the award,” she wrote.
According to a report by Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN), the movie maintained the number one spot for six weeks in a row, breaking Nollywood’s box office record with a cum revenue of N501,449,050.
The movie which was released in cinemas on Christmas Day December 25, 2020, has also broken the four-year record as the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time formerly held by Kemi Adetiba’s The Wedding Party.
The film features celebrities like Chioma Apotha, Eniola Badmus, Zubby Michael, Alexx Ekubo, Nancy Isime, Mercy Aigbe and Funke Akindele who produced and directed it.
