Adamu Atiku-Abubakar, Adamawa State commissioner for works and energy development and eldest son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has been honoured with the traditional title of Sardauna Ganye 1 in the Southern Adamawa town of Ganye.
Ganye paramount ruler Umaru Adamu Sanda, who is the Gangwari Ganye II, “turbaned” Adamu and five others in a ceremony held on Saturday.
Present at the occasion were Atiku, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha; and Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri.
Others who were honoured included a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and chief of staff to Mr Fintiri, Prof Maxwell Gidado (as Dan Masanin Ganye II); former House of Representatives’ member, Abdulmumuni Mapindi was “turbaned” as Durbin Ganye 1, while businessman Aliyu Abubakar was honoured with the title of Jakadan Ganye 1.
The two women honoured were Lilian Nabe, a former lecturer and two-time commissioner in Adamawa State, and Rasheeda Almustapha, a graduate nurse and assistant director with Adamawa State Hospital Services Board. They were honoured with the titles of Mi Woba 1 (most humble daughter) and Jakadiyar Ganye respectively.
The Ganye chiefdom comprises three local government areas of Ganye, Jada and Toungo.
