Lawyer Dele Farotimi has joined singers Falz and Seun Kuti and skit maker Mr Macaroni to reject the invitation of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to a peace walk in December following the damages done during the #EndSARS protest against police brutality in 2020.
Mr Farotimi, a known supporter of the #EndSARS movement, made a mockery of the governor’s request in a tweet on Tuesday night. “We are not walking. We are wakaing,” he wrote.
On Wednesday, he tweeted that he does not walk in the “company of murderers.”
Mr Sanwo-Olu had in a live broadcast on Tuesday held at the State House, Alausa called on Falz, Seun Kuti, Mr Macaroni, Farotimi and others to join him in a “walk for peace” in December.
Others whom he invited to the peace walk are #EndSARS promoter Temitope Majekodunmi, activist Segun Awosanya aka Segalinks, social media influencer Adedotun (Just Detoun), singer Seun Kuti, commissioner of police Hakeem Odumosu, and commander of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Yinka Egbeyemi.
Lagos State Government had in a white paper rebuffed the report of the judicial panel of inquiry, saying the panel did not rely on evidence in making its submissions.
The government said it could not accept the panel’s report that nine persons died of gunshot wounds fired by security agents on October 20, 2020, at Lekki toll gate.
