Leke Adeboye, son of the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has questioned the idea of an online dating site established by one of the church’s branches in Lagos.
The City of David Parish in Victoria Island, Lagos recently launched the dating website, www.connectnow.com.ng. Participants are not expected to pay any fee to access the platform.
However, Leke took to Instagram on Friday and shared photos of couples who met the “old fashioned way”.
In the caption for each post, he wrote: “Seeds connecting with seeds. We don’t need a dating app! We old fashion. We use prayer and Holy Spirit to find each other.”
The last son of Adeboye later edited the post, removing the critical part of it.
“He left and then came back for what, he went to prepare a place for. (Seeds connecting with Seeds),” he wrote.
In the comment section, an Instagram user with the handle @dharmlo said, “A dating app for Christians is not a bad idea. I like the idea. Let’s have a platform that supports our beliefs.” Like replied with the clapping emoji to show a change of heart.
Meanwhile, a disclaimer on the dating site urged users of the platform to carry out background checks before connecting with other participants.
The platform is already organising virtual masterclasses for participants where it will teach about key ingredients for a successful marriage.
Parish pastor Idowu Iluyomade in a video posted to Facebook said the platform has participants in their sixties.
